Day 8: Mi Familia

So I have decided to keep Bleu.

Call me crazy. Whatever. Right after I published yesterday's post, I emailed Bleu's owner and said I was keeping her. I haven't second-guessed the decision. Not once. Good sign.

Clare asked a good question: Does Bleu meet my needs?

I don't really have a good answer. I don't actually feel I need another horse at all. Despite the occasional frustration, Cricket and I have been doing just fine.

So here is my happy little family. Minus the cat. I spent yesterday hand grazing my girls. For Bleu this is about finding comfort away from the barn. For Cricket, it's a chance to work on becoming as wide as she is tall. For me, it's just about enjoying a peaceful summer evening with my horses.

Does life get any better?

Congratulations! If you've made the decision and didn't immediately regret it, you are on the right track. :-)

Life is good.

Nope, in fact it makes me smile every time I think about it.

It's going to be a grand adventure and I'm looking forward to new things.

Congratz!
Thanks for inviting me over. You are playing at a higher level than myself at the moment but I can see you have some of the same internal "frustrations" from what I've read. It'll help me to see how you resolve some of them so I have new ideas to try!
It is interesting that Sunrise has some of Cricket's personality and Cayleigh has some of Bleu's. I wonder if I'm being routine enough in my day to day activities, while being progressive enough in my play, only time will teach me!

Peter - Thanks for coming on over. Sorry I haven't responded sooner. I was in Columbus, OH for the Parelli Across America event and then I stayed on for the Gold Summit. More on all of that later.

It's difficult, at times, to balance the consistency and variety. Especially when the human needs consistency to build skill and confidence and the horse needs variety to maintain interest and effort. Somewhere there is a balance. If you find it, let me know!
